Description
Animal Homes is a lift-the-flap board book that explores where animals live. The illustrations form gritty, textured scenes of animals in their habitats, finding beavers in their dams, eagles in their nests, and foxes burrowing underground to find rabbits. This interactive book is engaging for little ones as they get to lift the flaps through-out the book, uncovering what lives above and below the surface, in the trees, and underwater. Animal Homes was published by Caterpillar Books in August 2019. It is a total of 16 pages. The lift-the-flap board book is the following dimensions: 9.6 x 0.8 x 8.5 inches
Here’s an excerpt from Animal Homes:
“BEAVERS live in LODGES
They use their teeth to cut wood in order
to build DAMS across rivers. The dams slow
the water down, making it safe to swim.”
Written by Libby Walden and Illustrated by Clover Robin
Designed for children ages 3 to 6-years-old.
Why we like it at Happy Little Tadpole:
Clover Robin is a very talented illustrator and the books she creates are a unique style, one that is interesting to look at time and time again, which is what happens when you read a children’s book 100 times or more to little ones. We like this book especially because it is informative without sharing too much information for little ones. The premise of the book, understanding how animals live, is intriguing for children and also for adults (this is true for me at least). Add the lift-the-flap experience, and you have a winning board book!
Gift Pairing Idea: Pair this Clover Robin book of nature with another book from this sweet series, Bird House, to get an even better look at how our wings friends live. Note that this book is not lift-the-flap, but a hardcover book.
