Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt is a beautiful hardcover children’s storybook that features a little girl and her nana as their unveil the very alive world that’s hidden under the soil of the garden. Much like “Over and Under the Snow” and “Over and Under the Pond,” this book features poetic storytelling and retro, mixed media illustrations to help the little gardener learn about all of the life found under the soil. The story is one of discovery with peaceful, rhythmic writing and playful imagery. This children’s book contains a total of 52 pages. “Up in the garden, I stand and plan- my hands full of seeds and my head full of dreams. Spring sun shines down to melt the sleepy snow. Wind whistles through last year’s plants and mud sucks at my rain boots. “It’s not quite time,” Nane says. “Down in the dirt, things need to dry out anf warm up.” “What’s down there?” I ask.
