If You Lived Here shares 15 very different types of homes found all over the world, from Greece to Venice to New Mexico. Each two-page spread is dedicated to one house, with information on the left that includes an intro paragraph that helps you get a sense of what life was or is like in that home. Then subsections below include information about the house type, the materials used to make it, the location, date, and a fascinating fact about the home. The flip side of the page shares the intricate collage imagery of the home. If You Lived Here: Houses of the World Book was published by HMH Books for Young Readers on October 2011. The illustrations in this children’s book are out of this world! The paper collage medium gives readers such a detailed and intricate look at the very different style homes found throughout the world that they are mesmerizing. The last page of the book shows you where exactly in the world these homes are located, too, since they are all real homes found throughout the world. Not only are the collage graphics gorgeous, but this book helps teach children about a variety of different cultures found around the world, showing them that people live differently everywhere, and teaching them about what life is like there and what living in those homes is like. This book is really informative and also stunning, a great book for any home library that will surely be read time and time again.
