Description

What’s Up is a lift-the-flap book that features colorful bird illustrations that transform and move when the flaps are pulled. It’s a 16-page hardcover book that features a different bird on each two-page spread. On every spread, the bird is asked, “Hey proud peacock, what’s up?” and the bird responds telling the reader what they are up to “I’m making a fan.” And for the peacock, the flap enables the children to open the peacock’s feathers like a fan. What’s Up was published by Thames & Hudson in January 2017. The book is the following dimensions: 6 x 0.7 x 7.1 inches.

Written by Olivia Cosneau and Bernard Duisit
Designed for children ages 2 to 5-years-old.

Why we like it at Happy Little Tadpole:
Lift the flap books are so much fun for children. This one is especially well designed in how the flaps transform the birds, the owl wakes up from sleeping by moving his eyes to make the open, the flamingo’s bodies move side to side to show them dancing, the pelican opens it’s bill to show his pouch is full of fish, and so on.

Gift Pairing Idea: We suggest pairing this What’s Up bird book with a set of Wild Republic Audubon Bird Collection. It contains a Northern Cardinal, American Goldfinch, and a Chickadee that each make authentic bird sounds!
