Hooray! It’s warm outside. That means it’s prime times to get little ones playing outside! Here’s to more time spent outdoors and less screen time inside. We love promoting children spending time outdoors, so in this article, you will find a list of 14 easy, minimal set-up toys and games perfect for getting little ones outside in the yard this Spring and Summer. Not only will the outdoor toys for toddlers we share below get your little one outside, enjoying the sun, shade, and the natural elements, but they will also get little ones moving, working on their hand-eye coordination, social. skills, their throwing, aim, and all sorts of other skills. 

The Outdoor Toys below are all of the following:

  • Under $50 – most of the outdoor toys we share are primarily between 20-30 dollars in price. *The only toy on this list that is an exception to this under $50 list, is the Gonge Riverstones. They are slightly over $50 in price (but we really like them so we included them here anyway).
  • Designed for Outdoor Use – All toys on our outdoor list are designed for use outdoors, some, for both indoor and outdoor play. Note that when using toys outdoors, it is likely that they will naturally become worn more quickly. That’s just the nature of outdoor play!
  • For Children Ages 2, 3, 4, and/or 5 years old – The outdoor toys we share are appropriate for kids in the age range of 2-5 years old. The exact range is listed for each item, game, or toy set. 
  • Easy to Set-Up and Play – The outdoor toys in this list are not permanent backyard toys or toy sets that require a ton of set-up. They are easy to set up, play, and put away afterward, making for a quick (if need be) outdoor activity.

Other than being toys that can be played outdoors, the toddler toys listed above are also all relatively inexpensive toys, games, or sets that require minimal set-up, and easy to understand play, making them ideal for little ones to primarily play on their own or with their siblings or neighborhood friends versus needing parental guidance.

  3. The critter case is a great idea for my fiance’s niece! She loves bugs and isn’t scared of any, although sometimes her choices are a bit too much for the rest of us. I’ll consider this for the next time we visit them.
